5 Reasons to sign up for Ball Hockey

Summer is our favourite time of the year and I know we’re all really excited about the 2nd Annual Eligeo IT Ball Hockey Tournament.  There is a lot of cool things going on for the tournament and we’re really looking forward to the event this year.  We have a bunch of announcements, sponsors, and teams coming your way over the next few weeks.

I thought in the mean time as we work to close off 5 more registrations to complete all of our team entries.  So here are 5 reasons to sign up for the 2nd Annual Eligeo IT Ball Hockey Tournament:

  1. It’s for charity!

OK, this one is a bit of a given.  But it really is true and it is in the spirit of what it means to be a Calgarian.  When it comes to doing business, raising a family or spending time with friends it is incredibly important to stay in tune with your community.  Your community is where you are spending most of your time and it’s important that you help organizations help those around you.  KidSport Calgary and Scouts Canada both have common goals in helping young Calgarian’s get out from the couch and out with friends to participate in activities and sports.

  2. An amazing team building experience.

If you’re a business, and we typically have many businesses sign up for the tournament, then this is the ultimate team building experience.  We even had some employees from one of our team registrants, Flor-Ready, come up to us and tell us what a great team building experience it was.  Even if you as a business owner are not participating, how about sending along your employees to represent your company?

  3. Even you can get out and be active!

A lot of us get caught in the frenzy of every day life and now for 1 day out of 365 days this is an amazing opportunity to get out and get active!  The whole idea of the ball hockey tournament is to promote being active and involved in your own lives, so this is a great way to do it yourself.

  4. We’re Canadian, it’s hockey, do we need to say more?

I think I’ve said enough?  We simply love hockey.

  5. The Prizes, Entertainment and of course the Eligeo IT Trophy

If it’s bragging rights you’re after, then you’ll have the Eligeo IT Cup.  If it’s fun you’re after then we’ve got lots of it with the lunch time shoot out, live band(s) / DJ and an after party at a local establishment (to be determined).  We like to play hard, but have a lot of fun doing it too.

Well I hope we were able to give you some ideas and thoughts on what to expect at the tournament and WHY you need to register.  If you haven’t registered a team then you need to head over to the registration page right away.

We’re looking forward to seeing all of you in 44 days!

We are extremely thrilled to announce that for a second year in a row Scouts Canada will be a participant in the Eligeo IT Ball Hockey Tournament.  In the inaugural tournament in 2010 we had 7 teams registered and Scouts was the main beneficiary of this event.  This year our goal is to have 12 – 14 teams in the tournament and currently we have over 7 registrations already with over a month and a half to go.

Mission of KidSport:

We believe that no kid should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports. KidSport provides support to children in order to remove financial barriers that prevent them from playing organized sport.

We do this by:

  • Raising funds in the community to pay registration fees for KidSport kids to participate in sport programs.
  • Gathering used equipment for KidSport kids to use in sport programs.
  • Advocating the value and benefit of kids playing sports in the pursuit of lifelong health and wellness.

We believe that through participation in organized sport activities, kids learn the values of:

  • Co-operation
  • Team play and friendship
  • Commitment to goals
  • Personal excellence
  • Healthy competition
  • Self-esteem
